The live streaming will start at 7pm on FIHP 1 online channel with the first finals of this World Championships (check out the 2nd channel to use Flash Player instead of Silverlight).

Each day there will be a 2 hours of summary of the day on the Italian national television "Raisport 2" channel. Actually I didn't find any website, that could provide the channel's streaming outside Italy. Anyway I'll continue to search.

World Championships 2012 - Ascoli Piceno, San Benedetto del Tronto - Italy

Tomorrow will start the inline speed skating world championships 2012 with the opening cerimony. The track races will start on September 8th at the Ascoli Piceno's ring. The road raced will take place in San Benedetto del Tronto on Sept. 12th.

Italian Road Championships 2012 - Montereale Valcellina - Results [Updated]

This morning the Italian Road Championships 2012 has just started in Montereale Valcellina. More than 500 athletes will join the race.

At the same time in Szeged (Hungary) is taking place the European Championships, therefore some of the most important athletes there won't be at the Italian event.

European Championships 2012 - Szeged (Hungary) [updated]

The next big event will be the European Inline Speedskating Championships in Szeged (Hungary) from 23 to 28 July 2012.

The track that will host the continental event is an ordinary tarmac oval, lenght 180mt., it's quite short in my opinion, width 5,5mt. Check out the aerial view http://goo.gl/maps/SYqx.

The track has already hosted an international event this year, the Hungaroskate Inline Speedskating European Cup 2012 from 12 to 15 April 2012. Below a video of a qualifying 500mt. race, senior man:

Vintage Skating #1

I want to start a new section about what the roller skating has been in the past. 

This is possible thanks to some very old videos I found on youtube, uploaded by Cinecittà Luce, the most important historical video archive of Italy.
What I want to do is discover the history of roller speed skating and understand how this sport was at the beginning of the 20th century and its evolution.

The 1st video is a mute video about the "annual roller skating race from London to Brighton" of November 1929. Enjoy the video!

2012 Italian Track Championship [Updated]

Today is starting the 2012 Italian Track Championship, the first event for Italian athletes to compete for a place in the national team. The Championship is hosted by "skating club pertichese" in San Giorgio delle Pertiche, near Padua.

1st Trofeo della Brianza

From today until June 24th is taking place the "1st Trofeo della Brianza", 3rd stage of Internation Gran Prix of Italy, in the city of Cantù and Bellusco. 

700 athletes are taking part of this competition from all over the world. For example, the EOskate team is present, as Yaan Guyader said on his Twitter page. With this huge number of athletes I'm expecting really interesting races.

Skates' Innovations

About innovation, yesterday has been officially unveiled the brand new Rollerblade GTR Skate BY LUIGINO. This is the first huge innovation since the launch of 110mm frames. It uses an one point frame, that meets the boot in its center.
The first prototypes with 100mm frames are used by some skaters around the world. Here in Italy has been used by some young skaters during trainings and races with good feeling responses. This is the first shot with 110mm wheels. It needed more tests, because it's targeted to junior and senior categories.

We could buy this new product from spring 2013. I was told that an huge amount of this skates will be already available at the European Championships (July 23-28, Szeged - Hungary).

Speed skating between innovation and marketing

A new collaboration has caught my attention during this week, that between EOskate team and MPC wheels (CadoMotus). A collaboration in the pursuit of innovation. The innovation is what link these companies. On the one hand there is the first carbon frame, on the other hand there are the patented wheels. The whole Made in Europe. At least that what come out from the announcement on the social networks.

Matter G13 and memories

This post is, in particular, for skaters in '90 and first years of new millennium. So, what about Matter G13? In that years Matter didn't exsist.
From the release, Matter G13 has been used in several conditions, on track and road. The company promotes the excellent characteristics and the victories with this wheel.
Now I ask you a question. In past, which were allround wheels par excellence?

Indoor Italian Championship 2012 - Pescara [video]

Yesterday has been released the videos of Indoor Italian Championship 2012, in Pescara. This was the first big event of the year in Italy and for the first time, after several years, it took place in a 175 mt. track with banked curves, instead of a 100 mt. short track.

Where to...race: Les 3 Pistes [updated]

Just few days ago has been opened the registration for the 26th edition of Le Trophée des 3 Pistes.
This is one of the most famous race in the world. Why is it so famous? Because it is a 3 competition days on 3 runways with banked curves, with 162 teams which 85 out of France (from Europe and America).
The 2012 schedule is:

• Saturday April 7th, Pibrac
• Sunday April 8th, Valence d’Agen
• Monday April 9th, Gujan-Mestras

I joined the race in 2004. It has been the most amazing and crazy race I have ever done. The track is overcrowded of racers who speaks different languages and these conditions create an unique experience. Every skaters should try this competition at least one time in their life!

The organization confirmed me that the registration before 5th March is FREE for non-French athletes. This is one more reason to go!

Where to...race: NorthShore Inline Marathon [video]

The NorthShore Inline Marathon is the largest inline marathon in North America. It runs for 42Km (or 26Mi if you prefer) along the North Shore of Lake Superior, Minnesota. If you are feeling with a full marathon the promoter organize an Half Marathon, a Kids Sprint, a Rollerski Marathon and for 2012 they are setting up an Half Marathon for runners.
Are you training and you're searching an excuse for a trip to USA? You could already make the 2012 registration!
